Transportation

Getting to the Catskills

For hiking trips in the Catskills, it is highly encouraged that you/your group have your own transportation for getting to and from the meeting points and trailheads, as using public transport in the mountains can be difficult at best, and impossible at times! Uber and Lyft are sometimes available in the nearby towns (Hudson, Catskill, Saugerties), but are rarely available coming back down from the park.

If you are staying in an AirBnB or local hotel within a few miles of the meeting location or trail, please let us know and we may be able to help with arranging transport.

Taking the Train

Coming from New York City, you would take the Amtrak to Hudson Station, and then use Uber/Lyft to get out to Palenville (use Dollar General – 729 NY 32A, Palenville, NY 12463 as a reference point). For your return trip, its highly recommended that you arrange for a taxi pickup ahead of time. Please consult with us ahead of time if you are planning to take the train and uber/taxi.

Taking the Bus

If you are coming from New York City, the Trailways Bus offers drop offs in the nearby towns of Tannersville, Hunter and Windham. It departs from the New York Port Authority almost daily at 830am. Return buses leave in the late afternoon and return to NYC at approximately 740pm. Tickets range from $40-60 each way.
